They were 1450 ringers to compete, the 3rd August last, the title of the first bagad of Brittany, Festival interceltique de Lorient. For years, the event hosts the final summer of the competition. “A key time for any bagad”, explains Jean-Paul Goasguen, president of the Quimper. The training that he built in 1969 in the bombarde is the most titled of France. Twenty-two titles of champion of Brittany! A record that she almost beat last Saturday. At the end of five hours of the final first category, at the stadium of Moustoir, it is ultimately the bagad of Plomeur, Cap Caval, who has won the title. Styling Quimper to the pole, for the fifth year in a row. “There’s always a bit of disappointment,” says Jean-Paul Goasguen. We are competitors. But we don’t have to be ashamed of our performance. Everyone played well and was very satisfied.”
