The art publisher Xavier Barral died in the night from Saturday to Sunday at his paris home, has announced Monday, the publishing house, eponymous, which he founded in 2002. Born on 22 November 1955, Xavier Barral grows near the Observatory of Meudon, near paris, before studying at the École supérieure d’arts graphiques Penninghen in Paris, where he met the photographer Robert Doisneau and the designer Polish Roman Cieslewicz. In 2002, encouraged by the editor, Hervé de La Martinière, as well as by Daniel Buren and a few friends authors, he created the Éditions Xavier Barral, and published Word of Daniel Buren. The first in a line of prestigious, among which hast thou seen , designed with Sophie Calle in 2003, Depardon USA in 2018, books dedicated to the work of the photographer chilean Sergio Larrain in 2013 and japanese artist Masahisa Fukase in 2018. Xavier Barral was not insensitive to the science: after the publication of Evolution in 2007, he himself had selected 200 images of the space probe american MRO (Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter) to Mars , a book, a haunting that came out in 2013. “The scientists are not looking at the same things,” he explained then to the AFP .
