Accused in the death of African-American, Floyd a police officer will stand trial

Police from Minneapolis Derek Caven, whose actions led to the death of the African-American George Floyd during the arrest, will stand trial.

Cavena charged with murder in the second degree. During the detention he used a rear naked choke, and then Floyd died in intensive care. The first court session on its business will take place on 8 June.

As noted, the original accusation was easier, but later was changed. If a COP is found guilty, he could face up to 40 years in prison, said RIA “Novosti”.

Charges are also brought against three police officers involved in the arrest. Each of them threatens till 10 years of imprisonment for complicity in the murder. Hearings on their cases will start on June 29.

Recall, the death of Floyd has led to a wave of mass protests and riots in different cities of the United States.
