Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov refused to travel to Moscow for the Victory parade with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of the Central Asian Republic apologized to the colleague and explained that it was to hold in quarantine for two weeks after returning — he wants to celebrate birthday in accordance with the traditions of their country.
Turkmen President called Putin and said that he refused the invitation due to the fact that in his country it is customary to celebrate birthdays with family and with his people, reports the state Agency TDH. The parade is set for June 24 (Russia did not pursue his may 9 because of a pandemic), 62-year-old Berdymukhamedov celebrates “name day” on June 29. Accordingly, according to the head of state, he can’t go for 14 days to the isolation that is bound to make all returned from abroad, Turkmen citizens.
