The Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, Amélie de Montchalin, and that of Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, now know the attributions of their respective ministries. The first inherits in particular the questions of sustainable development, the protection of biodiversity, planning and the fight against urban sprawl. She is also in charge of the substandard housing file, which until then depended on the Ministry of Housing, which has now disappeared.

For its part, the Ministry of Energy Transition is responsible for the development of sustainable energies and the construction of new nuclear reactors, but also for the subjects of “decarbonization and electrification of the road transport sector”. Agnès Pannier-Runacher is entrusted with the authority of the Directorate General for the Prevention of Nuclear Safety Risks and that of the Energy Transition in conjunction with that of Energy and Climate. The building renovation and energy performance policy also remains straddling the two ministries. No hermetic borders, therefore, between the entities inherited from the Ministry of Ecological Transition, which must also work with the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, in charge of the government’s ecological planning.

Confirmed as Minister of the Interior by Emmanuel Macron, Gérald Darmanin, weakened by the fiasco at the Stade de France, inherits the portfolio linked to the right of asylum and the integration of foreigners, carried since 2020 by the Ministry of Citizenship. “The Minister of the Interior prepares and implements the government’s policy in terms of internal security, public freedoms, territorial administration of the State, immigration, asylum, integration of foreigners in France , the fight against separatism and road safety”, specifies the decree. While he shared the migration file with Marlène Schiappa, Gérald Darmanin now takes care of immigration alone. Finally, the text notes that, “together with the Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, the Minister of the Interior prepares and implements the government’s policy on decentralization”.

In addition to its traditional skills, the Ministry of the Economy will work with those of the Interior and the Ecological Transition and Territories on issues relating to local finances, as well as in close collaboration with that of the Transition. energy on the raw materials file.
