Chief Rabbi of Russia contracted the coronavirus

Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar was infected with coronavirus. He was hospitalized June 4 after an online conference.

“Rabbi Lazar was diagnosed with the coronavirus, he is under the supervision of doctors,” said his press Secretary Gershon Cohen, RBC reports.

According to him, the condition of 56-year-old Lazar does not cause “much concern”.

Lazar was elected chief Rabbi of Russia according to the Federation of Jewish communities of Russia (FJC) in 1999.
