Road traffic was already dense on Saturday morning with a level of traffic jams described as “exceptional” by Bison smart, especially in the Drôme on the A7 motorway.

In the direction of the departures, the day of Saturday is classified red at the national level and black in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and in the Mediterranean arc.

It is classified red on the whole territory in the direction of returns.

The peak of traffic jam is expected between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. but the difficulties will remain very high until 8 p.m., warns the public road information service.

To escape slowdowns, Bison futé advises motorists to leave or cross Île-de-France after 12 p.m., and to avoid the A71 motorway, between Orléans and Clermont-Ferrand, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., as well as the A8, between Aix-en-Provence and Nice, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Bison smart also advises against taking the A7, between Salon-de-Provence and Marseille, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Traffic will be more fluid on Sunday, with a day classified as green at the national level but orange in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and in the Mediterranean arc.
