EU proposes mediation to the Belarusian authorities and protesters

At the end of the emergency meeting of EU foreign Ministers, a decision was made about possible mediation in resolving the crisis.

Minister of the 27 EU countries agreed that Brussels should help the Minsk dialogue with the opposition and civil society.

the Coordinators of this work appointed the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell and his service.

“the European Union will present to the Belarusian authorities offer support in establishing dialogue between the government and opposition and the society to resolve the crisis,” reads a document following the meeting.

Sam Borrell said on Twitter that the EU does not accept the election results in Belarus and started working on introduction of new sanctions against Minsk. Restrictions will affect those who are “responsible for violence and fraud”.
