Expert: to Reduce new year's holidays are

the Proposal to reduce the number of days tells of the backwardness of the thinking of the authorities and the backwardness of the economy as a whole, says associate Professor of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Oleg Komolov. As stated by the candidate of economic Sciences, the correspondent “of Rosbalt”, the “top” seems easier to force the “lower classes” to work more than to invest in scientific and technological progress.

Earlier, the head of the economic Committee of the Federation Council Andrey Kutepov sent to the Ministry of labor the draft law on reducing the Christmas holidays in 2021. The initiative was explained by the need to “compensate” non-working days established in the current year because of the epidemic of the coronavirus.

“Ruling class wants all the burden of the crisis to move on the working population. Hence all these ideas to reduce new year’s and may holidays, from all of these common among the “new Russian aristocracy” talk about “Russian laziness”, that we have many holidays, we have a rest etc. In fact, the length of the working week and working year in Russia more than in the Western world. We work 1980 hours a year, while Germans work 1300 hours per year. In developed countries, people work much less, because productivity there’s more”, — explained the expert.

Oleg Komolov said that in the country nothing is done to remedy the situation and improve productivity. “Our business invests in new technology does not replace manual labor with a machine, does not update the production capacity. The post-Soviet era the rate of depreciation of fixed assets is increasing. That is why a person has to work more and more to produce the same output. It is not talking about low skills of our employees, and the worthlessness of the organizers of production, which is not aimed at its development, to increase efficiency,” — said the expert.

Lawmeasuring the result of such a situation is the desire to increase the burden on workers. “Hence all the talk about the fact that different methods of extra-economic coercion to force workers to work more, to force people more time to give to work activities. This, of course, futile path, he will not allow our economy to grow. This once again confirms that our economic system is on the way back to scientific and technical progress — increasing performance and labor intensity,” said Oleg Komolov.
