The Georgian authorities have reviewed the current contract with the Russian company “Gazprom”, said the Minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia Natia Turnava. As reported TASS, the Minister said that given the intensified competition and decline in world oil prices, Georgia has revised the contract with “Gazprom”, which will contribute to lower gas prices. Turnava did not name specific figures, but indicated that the cost of natural gas will be reduced by approximately 15%. Earlier, the Minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia George Kobulia announced the signing of a contract with the Russian company on gas purchase in small quantities. In the past year Georgia has bought from the Russian Federation 160 million cubic meters of gas, which accounted for about 5% of the total import volume. This year the country intends to buy from Gazprom about 170 million cubic meters of gas.
