The hardest day of the long weekend will be Saturday.

“Holiday departures will be mainly in the morning and until mid-afternoon”, specifies the public road information service.

The main traffic jams are expected “on the A10 motorway towards Bordeaux, in the Rhône valley on the A7 motorway, then on the A8 and A9 motorways along the Mediterranean”, indicates Bison Futé.

Bison Futé advises leaving Ile-de-France before 7:00 a.m., and avoiding major cities between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Sunday, a “very difficult” day is expected on the return route throughout France, but “more particularly on the A10 and A11 motorways in the western area of ​​the country, A7 and A43 in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and on the Mediterranean Arc” according to the same source.

On the departure route on Sunday, Bison Futé sees “orange” and more slowdowns “in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in particular on the A7 motorway (Rhône valley) and towards the Mediterranean on the A9 motorways (Orange-Le Perthus), as well as A62 and A61”, between Bordeaux and Narbonne.

Tour de France obliges, Bison Futé recalls that “significant traffic difficulties are expected around the route of the stages”, either between Saint-Etienne and Mende on Saturday, and between Rodez and Carcassonne on Sunday.

On the weekend of July 9 to 10, traffic was half as high on French motorways as in 2021 during the same period, with a peak of 623 kilometers of traffic jams.
