Many people dream of living the Hollywood life and making it big some day. From driving fancy cars to living in luxurious homes and attending some of the best parties, any person who thinks of success immediately associates it with being a famous actor. Yet very few people realize how difficult it can be both mentally and emotionally to have to deal with such pressures. 

Take for instance actress Anne Hathaway who starred in “The Devil Wears Prada”. When she began her acting career at the age of 8, by the time she was 13 she was already suffering from depression and anxiety and had to go to teen counseling on a regular basis so she could cope with all of the stress. 

Then take Gwyneth Paltrow who has starred in such films as Iron Man and Shakespeare In Love. After her son Moses was born she suffered from extreme depression and stated on her blog that “I was confronted with one of the darkest and most painfully debilitating chapters of my life. I didn’t know I had it until it was over”. Thankfully she was able to work with an online life coach who supported her through the recovery process. 

Owen Wilson, star of the hit films Wedding Crashers and Meet The Parents tried to commit suicide after battling a serious bought of what he calls an “Irish strain of depression.” The Hollywood actor is known for making millions of us laugh but deep down he has been riddled with a sadness that would loom over his head and made it very difficult for him to finish some of his films. The actor claims that one of the things that helped him get through it was reading quotes about inspiration and motivation. 

Stars of such films as Heat and Divergent, Ashley Judd claims that she struggled with a serious bought of depression when she was a child and teenager. The actress was notorious from secluding herself from friends and family and that she would sleep very long hours so that she would not have to deal with it. The actress claims that her teen therapist played a big role in supporting her healing recovery. 

Then take funny man Jim Carrey who you would assume would be a happy and upbeat person. But the truth is that Jim also struggled with depression and anxiety and was even on Prozac for quite some time. The famed actor came out on 60 Minutes and opened up about his struggles and claims that the book Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle played a vital role in his personal transformation.

With people such as Anthony Bourdain, Avicii, Robin Williams, Heath Ledger, Philip Seymour-Hoffman, and many others who have recently committed suicide do to mental health issues, it is important that people begin to take depression more seriously and get the help they need.
