According to the newspaper, the research team vpnMentor found on an unsecured server information from the application UFO VPN, Fast VPN, Free VPN Super VPN Flash VPN Secure VPN VPN and Rabbit. Freely available are the email addresses of users of these applications, unencrypted passwords, IP and home addresses, information about smartphones and the device IDs. The total amount of data is 1.2 TB.
Many applications are downloaded in Google Play and the AppStore for more than 1 million times and have a user rating above 4.5. According to experts, among the users of these applications can be tens or hundreds of thousands of Russians, as free VPN solutions are widely used in Russia due to the large number of blocked Internet sites.
