In the Perm theatre of Opera and ballet after leaving Miroshnichenko and Currentzis present a new choreographer

the Ballet troupe of the Perm Opera and ballet theatre has presented the new head — choreographer Anton Pimonov. About a month ago it became known that Alexey Miroshnichenko, who led the ballet company for more than 10 years decided to leave.

General Director of the Perm Opera and ballet theatre Andrey Borisov said that Pimonov — “young, dynamic, strong, stylish, independent and a very talented choreographer from St. Petersburg.” Borisov also recalled that Anton Pimonov’s got an important experience in the management of the company as Deputy Vyacheslav Samodurov in the “Ural” with Ballet in Ekaterinburg, have informed in a press-service of the theatre.

Anton Pimonov promised to keep the classical repertoire of the XIX—XX centuries and the performances of Alexei Miroshnichenko, but plans “new titles from the classics and well-known ballet performances, which are first in Perm and in Russia were not fulfilled”. “And of course, to me personally, as a choreographer I would like to go to a major form of play”, he added.

“I agree with the prevailing opinion that this is the third ballet company in Russia, although for my taste, this characterization sounds a bit sporty, so I would rather say: in Perm one of the leading companies in the country. Its key feature is the strong female corps de ballet”, — said the choreographer.

He paid tribute to his predecessor Alexei Miroshnichenko and promised to adequately respond to this challenge.

the press service of the theater said that Miroshnichenko does not lose contact with the Perm theatre: in October, we will resume two one-act ballets in his statement — “the Jester” by Prokofiev and “Variations on a Rococo theme” to music by Tchaikovsky.

Alexey Miroshnichenko headed the ballet troupe of the Perm academic Opera and ballet theatre since 2009. Informed in Saint Petersburg, moved by his friend and associate, former artistic Director of the theatre Teodor Kurentsys. In his farewell speech to tritely Currentzis thanked the administration of the Perm region, “because without their utter misunderstanding, lack of awe and sensitivity, I never would have found the strength to make the decision to leave his Paradise.”
