The child, autistic according to his uncle and aunt, who spoke to AFP on the spot, would have escaped the supervision of his mother on Friday, during a walk. His disappearance was immediately reported to the police by the family, who themselves discovered the body on Saturday.
The child has “stab wounds”, explained the public prosecutor of Marseille, Dominique Laurens, to AFP, also speaking of “many traces of blood on the journey of the discovery of the body” .
The body was discovered by the child’s father and uncle, said Ms. Laurens, adding that the investigation was entrusted to the judicial police.
According to the uncle and aunt of the child to whom AFP was able to speak on the spot, in the district of Capelette, this one would have escaped the surveillance of his mother Friday around 4:00 p.m., after a walk. The family would have reported this disappearance to the police station at 5:00 p.m., then again around 10:00 p.m., their search still being unsuccessful.
The family explained that they first found the child’s jacket on Saturday, around 8.30 a.m., on the banks of the Huveaune, before finally finding the body, around 1 p.m., still by the river, at the bottom of a steep slope overlooking water, in tall grass and brush.
