The Elysée palace seen from the sky… For the first time! If one knows the presidential palace with his court of honour or a large garden that stretches up to the Champs-Élysées, it is rare to be able to appreciate its architecture a view of the rooftops. Between the dawn and the dusk, from 11 to 13 march, views photos and videos were taken by the photographer Eric Feferberg Agence France-Presse, through the use of a drone. But don’t look for Emmanuel Macron among the silhouettes that pass in front of the windows: the president was abroad at the time of the shooting.

iconic Place of the capital and centre of the executive power, the former mansion of the count of Évreux, was built mainly between 1718 and 1722. Located at 55, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré in Paris, the Elysée palace is the official residence of the president of the French Republic since 1848. The images allow you to discover a new angle on the prestigious main hotel, as well as the court of honour, the gardens, the entrance to the Faubourg-Saint-Honoré or the grid of the Rooster, at the end of the park. On some views, appear in the background of other famous monuments of Paris: the Eiffel tower, the Grand Palais, the Invalides or the Montparnasse tower.

A tough shooting

The idea of filming the Elysée with a drone to each of the four seasons was launched in November 2018. After months of administrative procedures and after obtaining the consent of the department of communication of the Presidency, the green light is finally given to a first film at the end of the winter.

“in Spite of the weather conditions capricious, with a mix of sun and rain and especially the wind was strong with gusts to 70 km/h, we have completed the shooting in three days,” recounts the photographer of the AFP Eric Feferberg. The AFP had already conducted a flyover of the capital in drone, offering beautiful images of the City of light.
