Bob Dylan museum. The Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is open from 10 may to 15 September, an exhibition devoted to the objects of the famous folk singer of the United States. A series of twelve portraits pastel titled Face Value gives its name to the event: Bob Dylan: Face Value and Beyond . The exhibition aims to deepen that of 2013 held at the National Portrait Gallery in London, which presented for the first time the twelve portraits.

in The programme, a retrospective of the life and work of Bob Dylan, through a collection of 100,000 objects collected during his sixty-year career. Fans of the folk legend will find some memorabilia, such as the frame drum, who served on the Mr Tambourine Man , or the leather jacket worn by Dylan during the folk festival in Newport in 1965. The concert remained in the memories for the lined of boos and whistles that has wiped the singer switched to the electric guitar.

The exhibition aims to reveal the complete creative process of Bob Dylan. Original manuscripts of his great songs may well be discovered, witnesses to the ramblings creative of the singer, through the many erasures and corrections visible on the writings.

A multifaceted artist

“It may seem dishonest to build an exhibition around a series of portraits, said curator Michael Chaiken at the daily Tulsa World . But in reality it is a ruse to show what these archives reveal the multiple artistic facets of Bob Dylan.”

more than 60-year career, Bob Dylan has been celebrated for his qualities as a composer, but also, and perhaps especially for a writer. The words of his songs from the early 1960’s have placed in leader of the revival folk in the United States. Many newspapers have called it a standard-bearer of a whole generation, a title he has always refused. These texts have allowed him to win a Nobel prize for literature in 2016, “for the creation of new poetic expressions within the great tradition of the american song,” according to the Swedish Academy.

Bob Dylan is also a writer of prose, a painter (he has been drawing since childhood) and has even directed a film in the late 1970s. A course motley for a complete artist, which explains the variety and the quantity of objects presented by the exhibition hosted at the museum Gilcrease of Tulsa. The impressive collection has been given in 2016 at the University of Tulsa by The Bob Dylan Archive, and must find a final resting place in the art department of the city in 2021.
