Petersburg has risen in the ecological rating of regions

Petersburg has risen in the National ecological rating of regions of Russia from the tenth to the eighth place. Data for the second quarter of 2020 shared in a press-service of the Governor and on the official website of the organization “Green patrol” responsible for the rating.

Experts believe that in the Northern capital is relatively high industrial-ecological index, reaching a level of 58 out of 100, as well as high socio-ecological indicator — 81.

As noted in Smolny, the results have been achieved through Supervisory activities, environmental education of citizens and the work of subordinate services.

“Eliminate the oil spills, pick up trash in the rivers, canals, reservoirs, ensure safety of the city waterworks, promptly respond to messages of citizens about emergency situations involving hazardous waste, including mercury,” — said the administration.

In the Smolny Institute also reported that in 2019 has been eliminated 273 illegal dumps.

Add that St. Petersburg has one of the lowest environmental indices, if compared with other regions of the top. The rate was 42, just below Moscow — 31. Among the leaders — Tambov oblast.
