Grace Kelly, a former Olympic swimmer, married Grace Kelly on July 1, 2011.

Prince Albert’s wife Princess Charlene of Monaco has decided to skip their 10th anniversary.

The palace confirmed Friday to People magazine the fact that the royal was in South Africa for treatment after she had surgery this week “to treat complications from a previous procedure.” According to the outlet the 43-year old had previously been treated for an ENT infection in her ears, nose, and throat during a visit back to South Africa.

Charlene stated that this year would be the first year she will not be there with her husband for our July wedding anniversary. This is a difficult decision and one that saddens her.

She shared that Albert and she had no choice but to comply with the medical team’s instructions, even though it was very difficult. “He has been an incredible support for me.”

The palace said that Charlene has been unable to travel since her recovery. Charlene will be staying in South Africa “indefinitely” while she undergoes additional procedures.

On Wednesday, she had her second surgery.

The mother of two said that her daily conversations with Albert, my children and my grandchildren keep me sane. But she also admitted that she misses them very much. “It was a blessing to have them visit South Africa. It was truly wonderful to see them. “I can’t wait to see them together.

The outlet reported that Albert, 63, traveled to South Africa earlier in the month with his two children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. They were part of a wildlife expedition and attended a family birthday party hosted by Charlene.

The palace shared the news that Albert and his twins would travel to South Africa “soon”.

Charlene posted to Instagram on Thursday to celebrate the couple’s 25th anniversary.

She wrote her husband, “Thanks for the blessing of their beautiful children.”

This post contains a preview trailer for a 10-episode series that will be released in celebration of the couple’s wedding anniversary. Charlene described the project as a “gift” and it tells their story through private family footage.

According to the outlet, Charlene had been away from Monaco since May in order to take part in activities for her South Africa foundation as well as wildlife protection. Due to her health issues, Charlene’s May 21 appearance at Monaco Grand Prix was cancelled abruptly. She was due to return to Monaco this week to resume her work. A scheduled public appearance is set for July 2.

On July 1, 2011, the former Olympic swimmer wed the son of Grace Kelly. The four-day wedding cost an estimated $70million. In 2014, they welcomed twins.
