Putin appointed Russian Ambassador in Damascus, his special envoy for Syria

Russia’s Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Efimov was appointed special envoy of the President of Russia to develop relations with Syria. The decree, signed by Russian leader Vladimir Putin posted on the portal of legal information. Earlier the post of special representative of the President of Russia to develop relations with Syria did not exist.

Alexander Efimov was born in 1958. Since 1980 he has worked in diplomatic structures. 2013-2018 was the Russian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in October 2018, he headed the Russian Embassy in Syria.
