Unemployment in Russia reached 1.9 million people. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting on the situation in the labour market.
As reported TASS, Putin said: the latest data show that in Russia is increasing the official unemployment rate. “There is nothing unexpected for us”, — Putin said. He called the question of the labour market one of the most important in the situation of the epidemic of the coronavirus and related limitations that adversely affected the economy of the whole world. “Demand has fallen, decreased business activity, frozen a cooperation and investment plans,” he listed Putin.
He acknowledged that all this has an impact on the Russian enterprises, for example, when they are unable to purchase necessary components. The decline in the economies of all countries of the world adversely affected the labour market, and also worldwide, he added.
He demanded that the government of the Russian Federation and heads of regions to respond to the problem of unemployment with the utmost care. “In the first place always and everywhere must be people”, — concluded Putin.
