The mummies of beetles were present in four of the seven graves discovered during the last six months on the edge of the funerary complex of Userkaf, Saqqara, south of Cairo, said Mostafa Waziri, secretary general of the supreme Council of antiquities, during a press conference. “The beetle [mummified] is something truly unique. This find means that the contents of the tomb may be intact, said Mohamed Yusuf, the chief inspector of the necropolis of Saqqara. It should be open in the coming weeks, he added. The fifth dynasty extended from 2,500 to 2.350 bc, shortly after the building of the great pyramid of Giza.
