St. Petersburg fitness clubs losing coaches and clients

Fitness clubs in St. Petersburg opened on 6 July, but many coaches do not return to previous workspace and follow me. About this issue, said Natalia Borulko, the representative of the Association of operators of the fitness industry in Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region. The discussion was held within the framework of the fifth part of the online marathon “to Save the business: mission (im)possible?”, who holds the “Rosbalt” together with the Deputy of St. Petersburg legislative Assembly Irina Ivanova.

“Many coaches took clients for themselves, and we lost both. They continue to do, as during the pandemic in Instagram, Zoom, in the fresh air. Summer fitness has always been a drop in sales and demand, but now it will be even harder. According to my estimates, about 20% of coaches have not yet announced about his decision to go to work, some don’t even take the tube, — says Natalya Borulko. — The second problem is that about a third of fitness clubs and studios in the city are located in malls, which are still closed.”

a Third problem for the city’s fitness industry of steel returns. Some clients, after three months at home, ask for a refund for the remainder of the year, as they lack livelihood. Borulko noted that the clubs hope for a moratorium on returns — otherwise the organization just will go bankrupt. The expert mentions that nationwide, the average decline in the popularity of fitness clubs is fixed at the level of 30-50%.

Natalia Borulko also listed the basic requirements of the CPS to the clubs after opening: the presence of a 30-minute break between the group training on disinfection, 4 square meters per person in the room, the availability of PPE and disinfection. According to her, the gym came under subsidies for the purchase of PPE and sanitizers, but imaging the situation is worse. This is another impressive item of expenditure.

the expert Also said that thworldwide, cities produce fitness centers willing to participate in state and local projects of improvement of the nation, to work with the disabled, pensioners, children and people from other disadvantaged categories in that case, if there is financial support from the state or city.
