Stocks of wheat in the Russian regions were at least the past 6-8 years

Stocks of wheat in the Russian regions was at a minimum level over the past 6-8 years. As reported “Interfax”, according to the materials of the analytical center of JSC “Rusagrotrans”, made on the basis of Rosstat data on stocks of grain on June 1. Thus, wheat stocks on June 1 at agricultural, procurement and processing organizations totaled 6 million 965 thousand tons. This is 20.8% lower than in 2019. The head of the center Igor Pavensky told the Agency that this is the lowest figure over the past six years. On June 1, 2014, the reserves amounted to 6.22 million tons, and on may 1, 2020 wheat stocks were below last year by 12.1%. According to him, due to the fact that exports in June decreased by 2.3 times in comparison with last year, the backlog in grain stocks from the level of previous years of July 1, could be reduced. Pavensky added that in the South (southern and North Caucasus Federal district) reserves declined by 29.7%, to 1 million 115 thousand tons and was 6-year-old minimum. As explained by the interlocutor of the Agency, this was due to export growth in may to 2.26 million tons from 1.37 million tons in may 2019. The growth of exports and active demand from domestic consumers led to the decline in wheat stocks in the Central regions.
