After opening it will work as a cinema premiere and the festival centre. Visitors of “Art” will be able to see movies, not purchased for the Russian hire, and the first series of the popular TV series.
“Now we are establishing cooperation with foreign cultural institutions in the future to hold joint screenings,” said managing Director of the cinema Varvara Melnikova.
the author of the “Art” is the architect Nikolai Annunciation, it opened in 1909. In 1912-1913, the building was rebuilt by the architect Fyodor Schechtel. He managed to increase the number of seats to 900.
After the war, the cinema building has also undergone changes. In 1987 it was renovated and in 1998 strengthened supporting structures.
In the course of the renovation project will restore the facade of the building, the walls and roof, and historic doors and Windows.
