The CPS explained why edible mushrooms can be deadly

Every year in Russia recorded about thousands of poisonings by mushrooms, about thirty of which are fatal. The CPS has published on its website recommendations for the collection of mushrooms, which will help fans of silent hunting to protect yourself.

“Most food poisoning related to the fact that people are unfamiliar or about the mushrooms in places where they accumulate salts of heavy metals, pesticides — along roads, in city parks. In addition, can be toxic and edible mushrooms in the dry season or after the place of collection of mushrooms were treated with pesticides or chemicals for control of insects and pests,” — said in Rospotrebnadzor.

So, should collect only the familiar types of mushrooms and always away from roads, highways and populated areas. The area should be environmentally friendly. Each mushroom to cut the whole leg, and at home in the same day to sort out the trophies, sort by type and throw all the rotten ones, are old and flabby instances.

“don’t forget that the mushroom is a protein, and any protein is very perishable. Therefore, mushrooms need to be cooked on the day of collection, pre-sorted them by species,” — the experts of Rospotrebnadzor.

Experts of Department are reminded that the hardest part of mushroom poisoning carry people with poor health and children. Mushrooms are indigestible product, which has a lot of fungal cellulose — chitin. That is why all the mushrooms before cooking should boil for 10 minutes, drain the water and rinse them. This will reduce the content of toxic substances in the product. However, in children, there is no required amount of enzymes to digest mushrooms and give them to children under 14 years are not worth it.
