The announcement of a series of Umberto eco’s novel “the Name of The Rose”, solid forms. Now the first images of the novel was published a film adaptation, which will be broadcast in the spring of 2019 at the Sky. To see there is, among other things, John Turturro (61, “The Big Lebowski”) as William of Baskerville and the German Newcomer Damian Hardung (20, “Club of the red tapes”) as Adson von Melk. As well as Rupert Everett (59, “The Happy Prince”) as the Inquisitor Bernardo Gui, and Michael Emerson (64, “Lost”) as Prince-Abbot.

The interior shots, “the Name of The Rose” in the spring of 2018 in the Cinecittà Studios in Rome. Here the gloomy atmosphere of the opulent series was captured. There, Sergio Leone’s Western classics have already been created “For a fistful of dollars” (1964), Martin Scorsese’s “Gangs of New York” (2002) and Mel Gibson’s “the Passion of The Christ” (2004).

Italy in the year 1327: The Franciscan monk William of Baskerville (John Turturro) and his assistant Adson of Melk (Damian Hardung), a remote monastery in the Alps. There they witness a series of mysterious murders that arouse Baskervilles famous Serendipity. However, while the two monks on the search for the killer, he himself is the hunted: The merciless Inquisitor Bernardo Gui (Rupert Everett), the critics of the Pope and Baskerville, is on his list…

The script for the series, Andrea Porporati-wrote with Nigel Williams, and John Turturro. The award-winning Italian filmmaker Giacomo Battiato wrote the screenplay and takes on the Director.
