The amendments made to article 33.1 “violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of personal data”. The penalty for leaking data reglamentary paragraph 6 of this article, “neglect of duty of confidentiality of personal data”.

according to RBC, the Ministry of justice has proposed to increase the fines for legal entities — from 50 thousand to 500 thousand rubles for individual entrepreneurs — from 20 thousand to 300 thousand roubles; for officials — from 10 thousand to 100 thousand; for citizens — from 2 thousand to 20 thousand rubles.

earlier, the authorities have repeatedly discussed the need for stricter penalties for identity theft.
