Changes made to the law “On measures of influence on persons involved in violations of fundamental rights and freedoms of the person, rights and freedoms of citizens of the Russian Federation” and include the mechanism of regulation in relation to “political” NGOs receiving financial or material support from U.S. citizens or implementing Pro-American projects and programs, and also engaged in “other activities that pose a threat to the interests of the Russian Federation and the constitutional order, defence or security of the state”.
the Bill is allowed to suspend the activities of such NGOs by the decision of the Ministry of justice with the notice of the Ministry of foreign Affairs. The Ministry of justice will make a decision on suspension and resumption of the activities of an organization according to the results of the Federal state control (supervision), including on the basis of information security services and prosecutors.
