Anurag Kashyap grinds still in the black. With The Mumbai Murders , his third film presented in Cannes (Quinzaine des réalisateurs) and distributed in France, the filmmaker indian confirms that the songs danced to Bollywood is not his cup of tea. After Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), a fresco spectacular of more than five hours, and Ugly (2014), thriller desperate around the kidnapping of a little girl, Kashyap tells the story here the hunt for a serial killer by a commissioner in the streets of Bombay. At least that it is not the reverse. Ramana, a large gash across the forehead, killing at random or not (his sister and his nephew are among its victims). His weapon of choice? A pipe in the shape of L. Raghavan, the cop, is not better. Corrupted, drugged, he does not hesitate to kill in order to have the last word. It has everything to Ramana, who sees in him an alter ego, a soul mate and that eventually follow in the footsteps of this figure of Evil who looks like him so much.

Kashyap does filming ever the violence frontally. The murders remain out-of-field. But Kashyap shows without shadow an indian society where women, the poor and the weak are the victims ideal. Chilling.
