The representative Zelensky invited Parliament to adopt a separate law on the status of the Russian language

Ukraine’s constitutional court is considering the constitutionality of provisions of the law “On ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as the state language”. The representative of the President Fyodor Venislavskiy noted that the position on this occasion, Vladimir Zelensky, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“the Subject of legal regulation of this law is not the status of other languages… the Verkhovna Rada should adopt a separate law which will regulate the status of Russian and other languages of national minorities”, — said Venislavsky.

In turn, the permanent representative of the Rada Olga Sovgira asked the constitutional court to take into account the opinion of the Venice Commission, which stated the inadmissibility of differential treatment of languages of national minorities and privileges the languages of the European Union.

Sahira believes that the consideration of this question should not be guided by the European aspirations of Ukraine and even to take into account the current conflict with Russia.
