He Babariko is still in jail, but his colleagues brought to the CEC a complete package of documents, and began the formation of the initiative group to campaign for the referendum on changing the Constitution. Earlier, Babariko, before the arrest, offered to hold a national referendum on the return of the Constitution of 1994, which was provided by the limitation of presidential terms and the separation of the three branches of government.
Recall, Babariko together with his son, Edward, was detained on 18 June. He was accused of “organizing and leading illegal activities” in the case of Belgazprombank, which he previously headed.
