The state Duma has changed the status of forest villages on lake Baikal

the Bill allows to transfer the land in land settlements with a resolution to equip them with the infrastructure, including sewer and road construction. We are talking about the forest land occupied by protective forests within the boundaries of the Central ecological zone of the Baikal natural territory.

currently there are 11 such villages — 10 in 1 Buryatia and in the Irkutsk region. They were created in the 30-ies, they are often the first inhabitants became

according to deputies, the Deputy head Ministry of natural resources Konstantin Rumyantsev, the authorities considered the option of relocating the residents of such settlements. According to him, in this case, the costs would have amounted to about 7 billion rubles, therefore, the optimal variant is considered the edits of the law, which now prohibits such a transfer of land. “The threat of enhanced area effects is missing”, — assured at the same Rumyantsev.
