The U.S. government has recognized the four Chinese media, foreign missions

the US Government made the decision on the recognition of four Chinese media, “foreign missions,” said U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.

As he wrote Pompeo in a network of microblogs Twitter, this was done to ensure “greater transparency of the activities of the Communist party of China in the United States.” Among the media status as such, included China Central television, the newspaper “Renmin Zhibao” and The Global Times, and portal China News Service.

According to the state Department, these media belong to the government of China or controlled by them, and therefore fall under the category of foreign missions, adopted by the Law on foreign missions. The state Department notes that the decision is not related to the content of the media and does not impose restrictions on their work in the United States, but only obliges them to comply with “specific administrative requirements”.

In February 2020, a similar status was granted to the Chinese news Agency Xinhua, China radio International, China Global Television Network, China Daily Distribution Corporation and Hai Tian Development USA.
