The US is seeking the inclusion of the nuclear arsenals of Russia and China in a new Treaty on arms control

Russia and China should participate in negotiations on arms control, and the final agreement should apply to the nuclear arsenals of these countries and to cover them entirely. This opinion was expressed by the special representative of the President of the United States arms control Marshall Billingsley, his post posted on Twitter.

the New agreement should include “the whole complex of the Russian nuclear Arsenal, including non-strategic nuclear weapons.”

Completely agree with Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs. New control arms should definitely involve Russia AND China, and cover the entire nuclear arsenals of both those countries. Lithuania is a strong NATO Ally and friend of US. @LinkeviciusL #deterrence #NATO https://t.co/r2o7YTDczO

Recall that in 2010 Russia and the United States signed the Treaty on reduction of strategic offensive arms (start-3), which aims to reduce the number of deployed warheads, Intercontinental ballistic missiles and missiles deployed on submarines and heavy bombers. The agreement expires in 2021. For extension of Moscow and Washington had not yet agreed.

the Chinese side has so far refused to join the negotiations of the Russian Federation and the United States on the issue of arms control. Washington believes that Russia needs to convince China to join the process.
