The suspect was placed in police custody for “voluntary homicide by spouse”, specified Éric Mathais, the public prosecutor of Bobigny.
The femicide took place overnight from Friday to Saturday. Alerted by the couple’s neighbors, the police intervened around 1:30 a.m. and first spotted traces of blood around the residential residence, according to a police source.
They then forced the door of the home and discovered the young woman “wounded by a knife” but still alive, traced Mr. Mathais.
Despite the intervention of the emergency services, she died on the spot.
His companion was arrested shortly after, a few hundred meters from the scene. He had a wound on his thigh.
At this stage of the investigations, no complaint or procedure for domestic violence has been found concerning this couple, said the prosecution.
