Peskov: Russia is not committed in the G7

Russia is not eager to join the G7 (“group of seven”) and was very satisfied with the performance in the G20 format. Commented the press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the statement of the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas on the impossibility of inclusion of Russia in the G7.

Recall, Maas stated that further expansion of the format of the “Big seven” and the inclusion in the group, Russia is unlikely to be possible.

According to Peskov, RIA “Novosti”, Moscow is not committed to the G7. Moreover, we have already repeatedly said that Russia is satisfied with the format of the G20. Peskov said that “twenty” is more in tune with modern realities.

Peskov said that his boss Vladimir Putin “never played” with any initiatives for accession to the G7. He recalled that previously, there was the G8, which was supposed to hold the summit in Sochi, but abandoned the event. After that Putin never initiated “any reconstruction”, but is now hardly relevant to put this question, concluded Peskov.
