“the Lack of transparency in the validation process of signatures in support of presidential candidates… undermines the credibility of the registration process. Moreover, the legal provisions on candidate registration create a disproportionate and unjustified barriers for candidates, which is contrary to OSCE commitments and other international standards,” — said in a statement.
according to Josep Borrell, the exclusion of candidates limits the possibility of the Belarusian people to Express their will and undermines the overall democratic character of elections.
Today, the Central election Commission of Belarus has registered the presidential candidates. Anna Konopacky, Andrei Dmitriev, Sergei Ceresna, Svetlana Tikhanovski and Alexander Lukashenko. Victor Babariko and Valery Tsepkalo registration was denied.
