The ex-employee of Yukos Pichugin for the third time denied clemency

The Commission on pardon of the Orenburg region has refused to satisfy the petition of pardon, which the former security officer of YUKOS oil company Alexey Pichugin filed in late March. It is reported by “Novaya Gazeta”. This is the third denial of clemency, which gets sentenced to life imprisonment the defendant in the “case of Yukos”. We will add that in places of deprivation of liberty Pichugin is already 17 years old. Earlier it was reported that a pardon was due in particular to the fact that the convicted mother is 81 years old. Pichugin in 2007 was sentenced for life in the case of organizing three murders and four attempted murders. He is charged with the elimination of the mayor of Nefteyugansk Vladimir Petukhov and businesswoman from Moscow Valentina Korneeva. The ECHR in 2017 recognized the right Pichugin violated, and ordered Russia to pay him 15 million euros.
