Died, human rights activist Sergei Mokhnatkin

At the age of 66 years died a human rights activist Sergey Mokhnatkin. This was reported by journalist Viktor Shenderovich on the page in Facebook.

Mohnatkin since 2012, led the Tver branch of the movement “For human rights”, was a regular participant in opposition protests. He twice sat in prison — he was arrested in December 2009 and sentenced to two-and-a-half years on charges of beating a police officer — Mokhnatkin was pardoned in April 2012. In late 2013, he was detained again and arrested on charges of using violence against a representative of authorities, he received 4.5 years in a penal colony. Later, the court extended the sentence to 11 months for insulting the authorities, and in 2017 Mokhnatkin was sentenced to two years on charges of disrupting the colony’s work.

He repeatedly complained of beatings and torture. On the freedom of opposition leader released in 2018.

According to the “MK” in December 2019 Mokhnatkin was hospitalized due to complications after a broken spine, received in the colony.
