In St. Petersburg by the end of summer, the work will lose about 130 thousand citizens. This prediction during an online conference in TASS was made head of the Committee on labor and employment Dmitry Cherneyko.

“At this time, the city was 80 thousand unemployed, freely now about 23 thousand jobs. Many came to the employment center just after the announcement of the President about increase benefits. From the beginning, the centre employs about 20 thousand people — alas, it is two times less than in the same period last year,” said Cherneyko.

the head of the Committee said that before the pandemic in St. Petersburg was regularly employed 3.1 million people. Unemployment rate is now just over 2.5%.

“By the standards of any country with an open market economy, the same percentage — almost no unemployment. But we are not used to it — that people are massively up on the account. We believe that until the end of the year unemployment in the city will not exceed 5%, and since September will start to disappear”, — said Dmitry Cherneyko.

Timothy Kotov, Deputy branch Manager of the Pension Fund of Russia across St.-Petersburg and Leningrad region, noted that in the Leningrad region the average value of the unemployed before the pandemic was approximately 3.5 thousand people, but now the region has more than 21 thousands of unemployed.
