NATO need to grow to meet the challenges of tomorrow, including such as military activities of Russia. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the headquarters of the Alliance in Brussels, it is quoted by DW.
“I am happy to initiate the discussion of “NATO-2030”, Stoltenberg said, and added that “this is an opportunity to think about how the Alliance will continue to keep the country safe in an unpredictable world” and how to strengthen NATO in political and military aspects.
Among the problems for the Alliance, he called the activity of terrorist organizations, in particular the “Islamic state” (IG, an organization banned in Russia), as well as the rise of China and Russia. “Russia does not weaken its military activities”, — said Stoltenberg, noting that the challenge for NATO.
the NATO Secretary General said that NATO uses a “twin-track” approach to relations with Moscow — strengthening deterrence, while continuing to dialogue. “Russia will not disappear, and we believe in dialogue with Russia and will seek to better relations with Russia”, — said Stoltenberg.
